Welsh Korfball Association appoints new international coach to lead Wales to European qualifiers and beyond.

The Welsh Korfball Association (WKA) has announced the appointment of Tom Brady as the new international coach who will be responsible for selecting the international squad early next month and will be developing the Welsh national team over the coming years.

Tom, who has previously been coach of the Irish national team says “Wales has been blessed with a number of fantastic coaches and players over the last 10 years and I am very proud to accept the position of Wales coach.” He continues “ I have watched the Wales National team punch above their weight at a number of major international tournaments during that time and I have always been impressed by the dedication and commitment of the players and organisation. I am very excited about the prospect of working with the wide range of experienced and up and coming talented players that we have available and I’m looking forward to applying my experience and energy to help build a team that can achieve great things.

I am delighted to have Tom as the new head coach for the Welsh Korfball Squad.” said Nick Wilkins, who has over 50 caps for Wales. “His experience, enthusiasm, professionalism and long term vision excites me for the future of the sport in Wales. We have already been in talks regarding the next stage and I am looking forward to working alongside Tom to achieve and progress towards our long term goals.

Kevin Allen, chair of the WKA said “This will be a significant year for korfball in Wales. With a new coach, a strong committee and dynamic new philosophy I am looking forward to the year ahead and seeing Wales compete at a high standard on the international scene.

Welsh international korfball is undergoing a complete overhaul this year with a new approach to selection and a strong focus on development. A squad of 12 men and 12 women will be selected to represent their country, attending international and national tournaments and coaching clinics, as well as receiving top class coaching and more.
